The Indian Standard, founded by Janani Venkatesan (@by.janani) is a magazine focused on driving awareness and conversation regarding the mental health of the Indian, and specifically Tamil, Diaspora. Janani saw a gap in the mental health space in terms of representation, relatability, and honesty. The Indian Standard speaks to the younger generation of Indians who have deeply struggled with their mental health, and are looking for a safe space for support and understanding. The Indian Standard platform was lacking a tight-knit, loyal community - which is where we came in. Janani felt a lack of streamlined content on the Indian Standard’s platform as well as the inability to convey strong, consistent brand messaging and brand voice.
